The Contemporary Music Ministry, under the direction of Sylvia Braga (www.sylviabraga.com), is known for their versatility and unique ability to blend traditional, classical, gospel, jazz, pop, contemporary, indie, folk, R & B, and soul styles to create a modern and vibrant liturgical experience geared towards young adults, youth, families and the young at heart. Their refreshed perspective on today's liturgy seeks to create a deeper connection to the liturgy through powerful, meaningful, heartfelt and inspiring praise and worship music.

Our music ministry consists of young professional musicians. We are often requested to perform at church services, wedding ceremonies and receptions, memorial services, anniversaries, corporate events, community events, and special occasions. Our musicians have a wide repertoire of music which spans from classical to contemporary, multiple genres and multiple languages (including English, Italian, Spanish, and Tagalog). Sylvia directed the Contemporary Music Ministry at Mary, Star of the Sea Catholic Church in La Jolla from 2011-2015. Prior to that, she produced and directed multiple community-wide programs and events including for the military and their families for over thirty years while living in Japan, Philippines, and the US.
